Our self image is the conception of the "sort of person I am" . You hear people say I am not a morning person or I am a talker and so on, I will never get that accomplished and so on. They are making a statement of their internal beliefs about their selves. Realize that most of these beliefs have been programed to us from past experiences, our success and failures, our triumphs, the way others see us and have reacted to us especially in early childhood. From there we start to create a picture of ourselves and we accept it as the truth. We usually don't question it we just act upon it as it was true about ourselves.
When you make some self image discoveries you may have very well found the "Golden Key" to living a better life.
1. Your results are a compass that shows where your self image is. This being your actions, feelings, behavior, abilities will stay connected to your self image. You will act , think, make choices, decisions that are in line with what you belief about yourself.
This was a huge discovery for me and explained a lot of situations that were happening in my life and I couldn't figure out why they were happening as I knew I was smarter than what my results were giving me. I did not realize I had an internal program that was directing my feeling, actions, behaviors regardless of what I consciously desired. This program keep winning out "Everytime". That was my self image program.
I struggled in relationships going around the same mountain again and again and again. I could drop the weight but only to put it eventually back on and then some. Growing up in a family of 20 constant years major illnesses and always on the move to hospitals and doctors even though when they are all passed I felt a void of that constant on the go motion. I did not know how to have peace in the home. I found myself not choosing sickness but just looking for something not to be ok. Are you seeing the picture and getting my patterns?
Another big discovery I made was that you don't have to like something to live in it, you just need to be familiar with it.
If your completely unfamiliar with it chances are you won't go there.
Then the Lights Flashed, the bells went off when I realized I wasn't going crazy but that my self image that had been programed from early on had put me on a path of no matter how I tried I seemed to fall back into old thoughts, patterns of not being lovable, probably not worthy of the good I desired, not respecting myself so I would choose less than goodness for myself even though I didn't want to believe that... My internal program was the power force behind my decisions. Even if I made a good choice I could usually turn it eventual to prove to myself that, that good really wasn't for me. I was to lose again. UGHH!!
I daily work on re developing my self image. I start my mornings with 10 things I am thankful for and "Why" , that is important to attach an emotion to your thankful statement. I see myself now as I want my life to be. I love myself. I study daily with Bob Proctor coaching. I study books such as the Relationship Handbook, Psyscho-Cybernetics, Science of getting rich, Think and Grow Rich.
